Nothing surprising there. Hawkmon can evolve into Orcamon with or without the digimental of sincerity ( It's an armor evolution after all ).

Yeah, I too sometimes forget Digimon have more than one form to evolve into, and more often than not, only one form, maybe two actually make sense while the rest feel like they were made up on the fly.

When two Hawkmon evolved, I thought it would be two Aquilamon, or Aquilamon and Halsemon, or Halsemon and Shurimon, but it was two Orcamon.

Welcome to Digimon, there is even a flower (Floramon) that turns into a bird (Kiwimon) that turns into either a bird-plant (Deramon) or another plant (Blossommon) again.

Dont forget about Tailmon evolution line. From Puppy Plotmon to Cat Tailmon then to Angel Angewomon then to Dragon Holydramon

The evolutions can be all over the place.
I think I got used to it in 01 with Tailmon and Patamon evolutionary lines.
